National Trust – St Michaels Mount

Oh my gosh i’ve wanted to visit here for what feels like forever! but its not somewhere we could go for a day trip as its a good 4 hours drive away, when we booked Newquay i did hope we could take a trip to St Michael’s Mount but i didn’t get my hopes up.

It certainly didn’t disappoint! We didn’t get to see it all because of the kids and time but what we did see we loved! also there was a quite a few coach parties there so the queues were pretty long 😐 we didn’t climb to the top of the castle as it was roughly 150 steep steps and i had Ridley on my chest so wasn’t the right time, we did climb a third up the way up via the garden entrance which was beautiful, Rue loved climbing and was super speedy me not so much!

The beach next to it was beautiful and you could defiantly make a whole day of it by combining the Castle and the beach. The walkway over was just stunning and i’m so pleased we got there early enough to walk it – it didn’t even register to me that when we was ready to go home the sea would be over the top of the pathway! on the way over the water had started to creep on to the path, the boys ran off and left me, i had babs chatting away on my chest and my camera (obviously) and my trainers on which aren’t leather and the water was drenching them so i asked some sweet girl to stop and help me take my shoes off!

It was super busy when we got there about 1030/11 so i’d recommend going early, the car park is £3.50 to park even for NT members & staff and then the boat is £2 per adult and £1 per child (make sure you have change – unlike us who didn’t!) also maybe take a packed lunch as the queue for the two restaurants was crazy!

We bumped into the cutest little oriental family and the daughter was taking all the photos of the parents so i offered to take a photo of all of them – then later on i was placing my camera on a ledge (didn’t take my tripod) with the self timer and they walked past and she took these amazing snaps for us. I mean Rue didn’t wanna play ball at all in our family photos when being taken by someone he doesn’t know and WM at first refused to get in but i’ll take these anyway.

We’ll be back when the kiddies are older 🙂
